![]() ![]() Make sure that your caloric intake does not exceed the amount recommended by your GP. You’ll need to do some simple maths to determine how many calories are in the whole pack if you intend to eat it all. An important part of a healthy diet is balancing the energy you put into your bodies with the energy you use.” Reading food labelsĮach food item in the UK is required to list the caloric (kcal) intake per serving. “To maintain a stable weight, the energy we put into our bodies must be the same as the energy we use through normal bodily functions and physical activity. An imbalance will lead to weight loss, gain or other health issues, so it’s important to keep track of your calorie intake. I can also use it as an app or log in from a browser from a computer so that's useful too.Calories are the measurement we use to determine how much energy we take in from food and how much goes out through activity. Your body uses a certain amount of calories every day just to run its vital organs and then the rest is used via exercise. I don't use that part much, but I like getting ideas from it. It's also useful because you can tell it your target macros and or target calories and or target budget etc etc, and it will suggest meals for you that fit the requirements. I can also preplan, which helps me budget calories - like, "I know I'm going to want hot cocoa tonight" so I go ahead and put cocoa in on the dinner line, so I can see how many calories I have left, and then if I end up not having cocoa later I can delete it, but if I do, I'm not adding more calories, you know? (Once you actually eat a meal you mark it as eaten.) It also has a barcode scanner for purchased food, and a decent amount of restaurant meals.īecause the whole tracking thing annoys me anyway, I like that I can set up things as recurring - like my tea and coffee every day - so there's less to enter. I like being able to put in custom recipes pretty easily. The free version is very good, but I did pay for the premium version. It also gives you bite sized goals if you have a lot of weight to lose and lots of statistics about how far you have come and how long it will take you to meet your goals based on your planned and actual loss rates. If you struggle with the constant weight fluctuations on the scale, this app really helps to put things in perspective! It smooths out the trend line so you can see that overall you are making progress even with the constant variability of daily weigh ins. I like that interface and it really helped me get on track last year, but since I lost my coach last month, I no longer feel that cost is worth it.Īlso, this is not a calorie counting app, but I will put in a plug for Happy Scale. I’m also finishing up a Noom subscription. I used to use MyFitnessPal, but since Under Armour took over, I don’t like the interface very much, there are too many ads, and I think the premium version is way too expensive (4x as expensive as Lose It!). I really like Lose It! I actually liked it so much that I upgraded to premium for a year.
